One step closer

We have now downgraded to alert level 3 which means the Covid-19 epidemic is in general circulation, therefore gradual relaxing of restrictions and social distancing measures. Boris Johnson confirmed on May 10th 2021 that England will progress to step 3 of lockdown easing on May 17th.

Below I’ve listed out what will be legal from May 17th:

  • Meet outdoors in groups of up to 30

  • Six people or two households can meet indoors

  • Holidays abroad will be allowed within the new traffic light system

  • Most businesses in all but the highest risk sectors will be able to reopen

  • Overnight stays with people outside of your household

  • Restaurants, pubs and cafes can serve indoors (so no more eating/drinking outside in the cold yay!)

  • Indoor entertainment can open such as theatres, cinemas and museums

  • Weddings, wakes and life events can have up to 30 guests

  • No cap on the number of mourners allowed to attend funerals

  • Children’s play areas and the rest of the accommodation sector (hotels, hostels and B&Bs); indoor adult group sports and exercise classes will be open

  • Some larger performances and sporting events in indoor venues with a capacity of 1,000 people or half-full (whichever is a lower number), and in outdoor venues with a capacity of 4,000 people or half-full (whichever is a lower number). In the largest outdoor seated venues, where crowds can be spread out, up to 10,000 people will be able to attend (or a quarter-full, whichever is lower).
